Do Small Things with Great Love

First of all, I am sorry I am getting this up so late today. I had 2 health talks this morning and then went to start buying food for the elementary school students mentioned in a previous post... then had a couple more appointments and am just now having the chance to sit down. Busy is great when you love what you are doing! If you wake up feeling overwhelmed-- maybe you aren't following the path God meant for you; maybe it's time to make a change. If you love what you are doing, busy doesn't make you feel overwhelmed.

Nutrition Challenge:
How is everyone doing increasing the amount of meals they eat throughout the day? It takes a while to get in the habit of it... but, it's the way to go!
Today, we are going to start substituting... Not giving anything up, just making small changes. Any white grains/white bread/white pasta you eat... switch it to whole grain due to its less-processed nature! Brown rice instead of white rice-- that type of thing.
Reason: White grains are turned into sugar by your body-- and the breakdown process is incredibly quick. That leads to spikes in insulin levels as a result of high blood sugar. Repeatedly doing this causes the pancreas to be less responsive and the receptors that release insulin to fatigue.

Fitness Challenge:
Great job working all those muscle groups! Today is your recovery day... Use it for flexibility exercises/stretching. We don't want to overdo it and burn ourselves out... You are well on your way to establishing a fitness program!

Out of Your Comfort Zone:
Get involved in something you enjoy. The other day, I asked someone in the office what they liked to do for fun and they simply told me that they didn't have time to do the things they enjoy. That broke my heart. What's the point in going through the motions day after day if you never do anything you like? For me, I love what I do-- I love seeing people enjoying higher qualities of life-- so work doesn't seem like work to me. I hope each of you enjoy your jobs also... if not, maybe start looking at the positive aspects of it. Maybe you don't like what you do but it gives you time for your family-- that's a definite positive! The point is, do something for you. You will be happier and more positive-- and the happier you are, the greater {positive} impact you can have on others. No matter how tight your schedule is, make time for yourself!

Change Your Thinking:
I think some of us think that in order to make a difference we have to be a prominent community figure or have the financial capability to donate tons of money to a cause. However, that is so far from the truth. If you don't have the means to do something large scale, make a difference to one person around you. That gesture will grow into something larger than itself as others around you start to follow your lead.

"Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love." -Mother Theresa

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3(NIV)
